            2 DAY MINI DRESS WORKSHOP

In this exciting and high energy workshop visiting artist Susan Wechsler shares her tips, techniques and trade secrets on creating her one of a kind dress mosaics.   Susan’s dresses can be seen all over the world whether her creation or those of her students that are guided through the whole process for a successful and creative project.
New skills will be shared for the use of your discarded treasures in mosaics.  You will learn how to collect and then design with an unique palette of tesserae.  But mainly how to use her Magic Putty to add dimensional found objects to tell a personal story to your mosaics.  Susan will provide lots of individual attention to ensure everyone creates a unique piece of artwork.  Each student will need to bring personal treasures for their project: a palette of found objects, gems, beads, discarded jewelry...  The class begins the day you register, Susan will be notified and will work with you via email and phone calls to guide you through the design process of gathering everything you will need to complete your project.  No previous mosaic skill necessary.  Beginners to advanced welcomed.

This is a 2 day workshop Susan has designed these dress substrates to be completed in 2 days.  NO GROUTING, we will mosaic this entire dress using her “MAGIC PUTTY”, it will change the way you think about mosaics

Susan's years as a New York City costume designer taught her how to use colors, patterns and textures to tell compelling stories that evoke different times and places throughout history. What is most unique about her mosaic style is that she honor the integrity and history of each piece of china by carefully cutting and then placing the patterns back together. Her true creative desire is to be inspired and inspire others through my teachings. --Susan Wechsler
