British mosaic artist and author Martin Cheek returns to offer a special 2 day workshop on how to creatively use glass fusions to add dynamic personality characteristics and texture to your favorite animal!!
CREATING CHARACTER IN MOSAIC
This course aims to make the student think about the character and personaltiy of your pet. What is your mosaic about? (Martin just doesn't mean your cat or dog)!
~What is it about your cat dog that you are trying to say?
~What effect do you wish your mosaic to have upon the viewer?
~ What emotional response are you trying to achieve?
~What is it about your animal that is unique? Think about a few descriptive
words and keep them in mind as you design your piece.
Participants will want to capture the personality of their pet in their mosaic. Martin will review various methods of how he uses design elements with fusions and glass to capture a particular expression or emotion that brings out the pet's attributes.
Martin will teach cutting, shaping, and classical layout techniques of the tesserae along with some slide shows of his work. He will demonstrate how the use of glass fusions can affect your finished piece and he will guide you in your design and creation process. The course includes lots of hands-on practical demonstrations, slide show presentations and individual instruction so each one can learn about the art of mosaics and develop their own personal style.
The mosaic will be on either a 12" x 12" or 12" x 16" substrate. Martin does his best to encourage students to finish their projects but he can not guarantee this; his approach is rather to encourage the process and support the speed of the work of his students.
Martin can create bespoke (custom made) fusions. You would have to contact him with you order no later than Jan 1, 2018.
